Authority, Autonomy & Annotation - Annotations as FAIR data and the implications for information literacy
Hennie Brugman & Marijn Koolen
There is more and more and better software and digital infrastructure for creating annotations on all kinds of digital resources, and for publishing the annotations as open data. This offers users the autonomy to make alternative accesses to collections traditionally accessed by archives, libraries and museums. This has implications for the authority of information retrieval. At the same time, there is a need to curate and contextualize annotations so that they are FAIR and a valuable addition to existing metadata, resources and enrichments. In this presentation, we will discuss how the CLARIAH infrastructure addresses these challenges.
