I am a computer scientist by training and lead the User-centric Data Science research group at VU Amsterdam. My research interests include assessment of data quality in large, heterogeneous research datasets in the digital humanities, large scale web data integration and linking in cultural heritage and other data rich domains. I’m leading the effort in the ODISSEI project to build the national research data portal for the social sciences in the Netherlands.
Within the CLARIAH board, my aim is to align the activities of CLARIAH and its ODISSEI sister project wherever that is useful. In both projects, I have a specific interest in metadata interoperability and data quality assessment in the domain of copyright-protected and privacy-sensitive research data. I’m also the technical contact for the Dutch SSH community in the context of the NWO Roadmap proposals.
